What is the risk of taking HRT with a family history of CVD? More specifically, I have been on HRT since the age of 50. Are there any risks of continuing HRT (estrogen and progestrone, both in the transdermal application form) at my current age of 67 given I was recently assessed as having atherooscrlerosis (Calcium score of 117) and a family history of cardiovascular disease? I am no longer taking testosterone.
Thank you for this opportunity, Dr Gabrielle and Dr Heidi. My teen started her period last year at 14 and is having heavy periods. I haven't tested her iron levels but she often complains of dizziness, too. I know lifestyle trumps genetics (and ours is pretty good - optimal protein, clean skincare, organic food, filtered water, no plastic food containers, etc.) but this is a very strong trend with women in my family, including me. Is there anything I can do to help her avoid the fibroids, anaemia and autoimmune thyroid issues I, my mother and aunt have had?
